Snapshot by Progressive - what is it?
Snapshot is a tool that when installed in your vehicle uses technology that observes your driving behavior. With this information you may be eligible for an insurance credit of up to 30%. Snapshot monitors your driving in these categories:
- If you drive your vehicle less than 15,000 miles per year
- If you rarely drive between midnight and 4AM
- If you drive in congested traffic less than 70 percent of the time
- If you don’t frequently brake hard

Will I get an increase if I sign up and exceed any of the categories?
No. You can only save money with Snapshot; the rate will not increase based on information collected from the Snapshot tool.

That’s the best part. While the Snapshot is plugged in, you can access your up to the minute driving data to see how your driving is affecting your discount.
How do I get the Snapshot Tool?
Can Do will sign you up and Progressive will mail it to you with installation instructions.
How do I plug in the Snapshot tool?
The tool is plugged into the diagnostic port. That is the same port that is used when monitoring for emissions. Complete instructions come with the tool.
Is the tool compatible with my car?
The tool is compatible with most cars model year 1996 or newer.
What does the Snapshot tool track?
The Snapshot tool monitors how, when, and how many miles you drive. It does not have GPS tracking capabilities.
How much will I be charged for the Snapshot?
There is no fee to enroll in Snapshot. However, if the tool is not retuned either at renewal or after opting out, Progressive will charge $50.
